Parish Priest

The Very Reverend Archpriest Christopher Nerreau was received into the Orthodox Church in 2008 at St. George Orthodox Cathedral, and serves as the priest of the Western Rite community at Emmanuel Orthodox Church in Brookfield, Massachusetts.

Before entering the Orthodox Church, Fr. Christopher served for many years in Protestant ministry, where his lifelong passion for biblical preaching and pastoral care took root. Today he shepherds the Emmanuel parish family, leading them in the worship, sacraments, and teaching of the ancient Christian faith.

Deacon Doug Culver serves the faithful of Emmanuel Orthodox Church at the altar and in the liturgical life of the parish, assisting Fr. Christopher in the celebration of the Divine Liturgy and the sacraments of the Church.

In the ancient order of the diaconate, he ministers in worship, proclaims the Gospel, and gives himself to works of service and care for the parish family, embodying the deacon's calling to serve both the altar and the community.

Subdeacon William Tasker assists in the sacred worship of Emmanuel Orthodox Church, serving alongside the clergy in the reverent celebration of the Divine Liturgy and the liturgical offices of the Western Rite.

In the order of the subdiaconate, he attends the altar, cares for the sacred vessels and vestments, and supports the good order of divine worship, offering his service to God and to the faithful of the parish family.

Subdeacon Anthony Neigel serves at the altar of Emmanuel Orthodox Church, assisting the clergy in the celebration of the Divine Liturgy and the sacred offices of the Western Rite tradition.

As a subdeacon, he ministers in the reverent care of divine worship — attending the altar and supporting the liturgical life of the parish — offering his gifts in service to Christ and His Church.

Steve Chickering has been a staple of Emmanuel Orthodox Church since its very inception, faithfully serving the parish family from its earliest days as a church plant through its reception into Holy Orthodoxy and beyond.

As an acolyte, he serves at the altar during the Divine Liturgy and the offices of the Church, assisting the clergy and helping to carry the reverence and beauty of Orthodox worship — a steady and beloved presence whose devotion has helped shape the life of the parish for its entire history.

His Eminence, the Most Reverend Metropolitan Saba (Esper), is the primate of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. Born in 1959 in Latakia, Syria, and raised in a devout Orthodox family, he entered the monastic life at a young age at the historic Monastery of Saint George al-Humaira.

He pursued extensive theological studies, earning a degree from the University of Balamand and advanced degrees in Orthodox theology in Greece. As Metropolitan, he shepherds the parishes of the Archdiocese — including our Western Rite communities — in the fullness of the Orthodox faith.

His Grace, Bishop John (Abdalah), has served the Orthodox faithful of New England since his consecration, overseeing the parishes of the Antiochian Archdiocese throughout the region with a fatherly and compassionate care rooted in the ministry of pastoral shepherding.

Raised in an Orthodox Christian family whose parish was Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church, he sensed a calling to serve the Church from an early age. His warmth, teaching, and pastoral devotion continue to strengthen the communities entrusted to his care.
